How It Works in Three Steps

An AI astrologer, in Purohit's case, is two things working in sequence: a computation engine that builds your chart, and an AI voice that explains it. The three steps follow from that. First, you open a WhatsApp conversation with Purohit. There is no app to install and no signup form; WhatsApp is the whole interface. Second, you share your date, time and place of birth once, typed or as a voice note, and the engine computes your chart: the D1 rasi chart and divisional charts through D60, your Vimshottari dasha from the Moon's nakshatra, the panchang at your birth, and the computed verdicts and tables described below. That sequence, engine first and voice second, is the whole design. It is worth being explicit about because "AI astrologer" is a phrase that could mean many things, and most of them are not this.

What Purohit Is, and What It Is Not

Purohit Ji is an AI. It is not a human astrologer, it has no professional astrology credential, and it does not claim one. There is no panel of pandits behind the curtain, no astrologer bio to read, and no option for a live call or video with a person; every conversation is with the same AI voice, on WhatsApp, by text or voice note.

What Purohit Ji is built on is worth stating just as plainly. Its interpretive knowledge draws on a classical Jyotish corpus: Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, Phaladeepika, Saravali, Jataka Parijata and other traditional texts, the same body of work a traditionally trained astrologer would study. That corpus is paired with a deterministic Vedic astrology computation engine built on the Swiss Ephemeris with the Lahiri ayanamsa, the standard method across professional Vedic astrology software. Purohit Ji does not compute anything itself; it reads what the engine computed and explains it in the language of the tradition.

So the honest answer to "is Purohit a real astrologer" is: it is real software doing real chart computation and real classical interpretation, and it is not a person. Whether that counts as a "real astrologer" depends on what you were hoping for. If you wanted a human being with a lineage and a face, Purohit is not that and will not pretend to be. What Purohit Answers

The range is the range of a Vedic chart reading. A full kundli reading through lagna, house placements and planetary strengths. Career and its timing, read through the relevant houses and the dasha you are running. Marriage and relationship timing, including what the navamsa (D9) suggests. Dosha questions with computed verdicts: manglik, kaal sarp and guru chandal are computed and final, never re-derived by the AI; sade sati comes with an actual window from a Saturn ingress scan; pitra dosha and others are discussed using classical principles. Kundli matching by the 36-guna ashtakoot method, and the ten-factor Porutham for Tamil users. Muhurta, the finding of auspicious dates and times, for marriage, griha pravesh, business, vehicle, travel, namkaran, mundan, engagement and vidyarambh. The daily panchang for any date and city. Yogas present in your chart, Shadbala and Ashtakavarga strength tables, KP sub-lords for event timing, and the Jaimini chara karakas with karakamsa and Arudha padas for those who work in that framework. And follow-up questions, which are the point: an AI astrologer that forgets your chart between messages is not much of one, so Purohit Ji keeps the conversation.

Why a Deterministic Jyotish Engine Beats a Generic Chatbot

Here is where the phrase "AI astrologer" needs careful handling, because the same words can describe two very different things.

The first thing they can describe is a general-purpose language model asked to play astrologer. Such a model has read a great deal about astrology and can write fluently about it. What it does not have is an ephemeris: any actual model of where the planets were at a given moment, or any dasha arithmetic tied to a real Moon position. When asked for your chart, it has no way to compute one, so it produces text that resembles a chart. The lagna it names may be wrong. The dasha dates it quotes were never calculated. And because the prose is fluent and confident, there is no signal inside the conversation to tell you which values are computed and which are improvised. The failure is not that the model is stupid; it is that it has been asked to do something it structurally cannot do, and it does not say so.

The second thing the phrase can describe is what Purohit does. The engine computes the chart once, deterministically, from your birth details. Planetary longitudes, lagna, every varga chart, every dasha boundary, every dosha verdict: all produced by calculation, all identical if recomputed tomorrow. Only after that does the AI speak, and its role is strictly to interpret those computed values in the vocabulary of the classical texts and to answer your questions in plain language. Purohit Ji is not permitted to invent a placement, adjust a date, or reach a dosha conclusion the engine did not reach. This is a design choice with a specific purpose: anything that must always be true, computed values, dosha verdicts, dasha dates, lives in code, and the AI's fluency is spent on explanation rather than on guessing.

The practical consequence is that a Purohit reading can be checked. The free kundli shows the computed chart the reading is based on, and the same inputs give the same chart every time. That is not something a general chatbot can offer, and it is the real reason to prefer a deterministic engine underneath an AI astrologer.

What AI Astrology Means, and Where Its Limits Are

It is worth pausing on the broader question, because an AI astrologer invites it. Astrology is not a science. It is a belief system and a cultural tradition, thousands of years old in its Indian form, with an internal logic, a literature, and a vocabulary that many people find genuinely useful as a way to reflect on their lives, mark time, and connect to something older than themselves. Purohit takes that tradition seriously on its own terms: it computes the chart the way the tradition says to compute it and interprets it the way the classical texts say to interpret it. It does not claim the tradition predicts the future in any testable sense, and it does not offer medical, legal, financial or professional advice. Nothing Purohit Ji says should replace a doctor, a lawyer, a financial adviser or your own judgment.

What AI adds to this is access and consistency, not authority. A good human astrologer's time is scarce and expensive; Purohit is available at midnight, in Tamil, for the price of a WhatsApp message. A human astrologer may, on a bad day or with a remedy to sell, shade a verdict; Purohit's verdicts come from the computed chart and are the same whether the answer is reassuring or not. That incorruptibility is, for many people, the most valuable thing about an AI astrologer, especially on questions like manglik or kaal sarp dosha where fear is routinely used to sell pujas. Purohit has nothing to sell you at the end of a reading; the chart says what it says.

What AI does not add is a person. Voice matters here more than it might seem: a real question about your chart is often easier to ask out loud in your own language than to type in a second one.
