What this panchang tells you
A panchang is the Hindu almanac that fixes five elements of a day: tithi (the Moon's phase, counted from New Moon or Full Moon), nakshatra (which of the 27 lunar constellations the Moon sits in), yoga (a Sun-Moon angle used for timing), karana (half a tithi), and the weekday. All five are calculated here for sunrise at this city's own coordinates, according to classical Vedic tradition with the Lahiri ayanamsa, the same sidereal standard classical panchangas use. Rahu Kalam, Yamaganda, and Gulika Kalam are three periods classical muhurta practice treats as inauspicious for starting anything important; Abhijit Muhurat, the eighth of the day's eight equal parts centred on solar noon, is usually favourable, except on Wednesdays. Choghadiya splits daytime and night into eight windows each, some auspicious (Amrit, Shubh, Labh, Char) and some to avoid (Rog, Kaal, Udveg). Because tithi, nakshatra, yoga, and karana can change partway through the day, each one is shown with the exact local time it ends; where a value carries over past midnight, this page says so.

FAQ
Why do sunrise and sunset change the panchang?
Tithi, nakshatra, yoga, and karana are calculated from the Sun and Moon's actual positions at sunrise for a specific place, not for a fixed clock time. Two cities on the same date can show a slightly different panchang because their sunrise times, and therefore the exact planetary positions used, differ.
What is Rahu Kalam and should I avoid it?
Rahu Kalam is one of eight equal segments the daylight hours are divided into, its position fixed by the weekday. Classical muhurta practice avoids starting new, important undertakings in this window; it is not considered dangerous for ordinary daily activity.
What does 'Shukla' or 'Krishna' before the tithi name mean?
Shukla Paksha is the bright, waxing fortnight from New Moon to Full Moon; Krishna Paksha is the dark, waning fortnight from Full Moon back to New Moon. Every tithi name is paired with one of the two to say which half of the lunar month it falls in.
Is this panchang accurate enough for choosing an important date?
The positions are calculated according to classical Vedic tradition with the Lahiri ayanamsa, the same sidereal reference classical panchangas use, so the timings here are precise. For a date that also needs your own birth chart checked against it, our muhurat tool and the WhatsApp Purohit can look at your personal chart together with the day.
